Savoring Grand Cayman: A Foodie's Guide to Beaches, Bites, and More

When I arrived in Grand Cayman, I was immediately greeted by the sounds of Caribbean music as I made my way through the airport. The airport is relatively small and easy to navigate, making the arrival process smooth and hassle-free.

The drive to Seven Mile Beach, one of the most popular areas for visitors, takes about 15-20 minutes and is lined with palm trees and stunning ocean views. I chose to stay at the beautiful Westin Grand Cayman Resort on Seven Mile Beach. Westin Grand Cayman sets itself apart with its stunning location, luxurious amenities, commitment to sustainability, and exceptional service.

The beach is known for its soft white sand and clear turquoise waters, making it the perfect spot for swimming, sunbathing, and water sports.

Here are some highlights within Grand Cayman:

1. Stingray City: This is a must-visit attraction in Grand Cayman, where you can get up close and personal with friendly stingrays in their natural habitat. You can snorkel with the rays or even feed them by hand. I experienced this in Antigua and chose not to say hi to the stingrays in Cayman.

2. Seven Mile Beach: This iconic beach is one of the most beautiful in the world, with crystal-clear water and soft white sand. It's the perfect spot to relax and soak up the sun, and there are plenty of water sports activities available, including paddleboarding and kayaking. Westin was perfectly situated!

3. George Town: This charming town is the capital of Grand Cayman and offers plenty of shopping and dining options. Check out the local markets for souvenirs and sample some of the delicious seafood at the waterfront restaurants.I would recommend visiting when there aren't any cruise ships to avoid the crowds. 

4. Pedro St. James National Historic Site: This historic site is located on a beautiful estate and is known as the birthplace of democracy in the Cayman Islands. Visitors can tour the property and learn about the island's history and culture. I didn't get here, I was too busy exploring beaches and savoring on cuisines. 

5. Cayman Crystal Caves: These stunning crystal caves are located in the lush tropical forest of Grand Cayman and offer a unique underground adventure. You can take a guided tour of the caves and marvel at the stunning crystal formations and other natural wonders. Definitely do this if you haven't had any experience with Caribbean Caves. 

6. Camana Bay: This vibrant mixed-use development offers shopping, dining, and entertainment options, as well as a beautiful waterfront promenade. It's a great place to spend an afternoon or evening and soak up the local atmosphere. Top on my list! The evenings are beautifully lit up. 

These are just a few of my favorite stops in Grand Cayman. With its natural beauty, rich history, and vibrant culture, there's something for everyone to enjoy on this Caribbean island.
