Snorkel Equipment Tips for a Perfect Underwater Adventure

Excited for some snorkeling on your getaway to the beach? Caribbean blue seas, Hawaii, Costa Rica, Australia whatever destination holds your next adventure for snorkeling.

There’s so much to see under the sea from various fish, sharks, turtles, stingrays, and so much more.

Many destinations provide Snorkel Tours and self snorkel opportunities for you to admire the sea life. Snorkel Tour Companies usually provide the snorkel equipment, but as a seasoned traveler I highly recommend you purchase your own.

I’ve seen it time and time again, heads are bobbing up in the water struggling with the snorkel as water leaks in or the straps need to be adjusted. It ruins your snorkel experience.

Now if you take this scenario and multiply it if your kids are having a terrible time with their gear you’re missing out on time spent discovering new creatures under the sea.

Purchase snorkel equipment for the family at least a month before you’re traveling to allow everyone to try it on and adjust the straps to fit.

If you have long hair, there’s a comfy strap you can add to your snorkel back so the rubber on your snorkel doesn’t pull your hair.

There’s nothing worse than your goggles fogging up. There’s the well known spit method that works but I recommend an anti-fog solution to clear them up. Another natural method is baby shampoo, mix a small amount with water and apply a thin layer inside your mask. Rinse lightly with water before using them. This has definitely worked well too.

Flippers or no flippers? If you’re in the middle of the ocean, take them along. They are helpful with stronger water currents to allow you to swim efficiently without over exerting yourself. They can also help in navigating around coral to avoid hitting them.

The gear is available in a set and comes in a handy bag to allow you to transport it easily. It may be extra weight but will make your life easier when your family goes out to snorkel.

Don’t forget to give your snorkel gear a rinse in fresh water after you’re done to wash away the salt water. This will continue to keep your gear in good condition.

Snorkel gear comes in various colors, choose a different color for each family member, write your name on your bags and have a fun time exploring under the sea.
